Combine diverse safari landscapes and experiences on this 10-day journey through the Okavango Delta and Kalahari.
This journey showcases the diverse landscapes of Botswana, from the waterways of the Okavango Delta to the vast, open plains of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, with immersive safari experiences throughout. Begin in Maun before flying by light aircraft into the Delta, where you’ll stay at Kanana, a beautiful camp set among waterways and islands. Here, enjoy a mix of land and water-based activities, from game drives to mokoro excursions, offering a unique perspective on this extraordinary ecosystem.
Continue deeper into the Delta with a stay at Shinde, located in a private concession known for its diverse habitats and exceptional wildlife viewing. Explore the area on game drives, guided walks and night drives, as well as by boat and mokoro, discovering the Delta’s rich biodiversity from every angle.
Your journey then shifts to the striking landscapes of the Kalahari, travelling via Xakanaxa to Dinaka on the edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Here, experience a different side of Botswana, with wide plains, desert-adapted wildlife and rewarding guided walks offering a deeper connection to this remote and captivating environment.
Explore the Okavango Delta by mokoro, drifting quietly through reed-lined channels teeming with birdlife and aquatic species.
Head out on thrilling morning and evening game drives, with the chance to spot predators and plains game as the bush comes alive.
Experience night drives and guided walks at Shinde, revealing a more intimate side of the Delta after dark.
Discover the stark beauty of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, where desert-adapted wildlife thrives in a dramatic, open landscape.
Track wildlife on foot with expert guides at Dinaka, gaining a deeper connection to the Kalahari’s unique ecosystem.
The best time for this itinerary is during the dry season from May to October, when wildlife concentrates around permanent water sources in the Okavango Delta and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, making game viewing at its most rewarding. June to August brings cooler temperatures and comfortable safari conditions, while September and October offer outstanding wildlife sightings as animals gather in greater numbers before the rains arrive.
This was one of the most immersive safaris we have done, with spectacular wildlife, ever-changing scenery and consistently outstanding guiding throughout.
