A week is ideal for a relaxing trip, allowing you to experience the elegant capital Montevideo, the picturesque colonial town of Colonia del Sacramento, and the stylish beach resort of José Ignacio or Punta del Este. With 10 to 12 days, you can slow the pace and enjoy the laid-back culture, explore the wine regions and perhaps spend time at a rural estancia in the countryside. Uruguay lends itself well to both standalone trips and extensions to a longer South American journey.
