Bocas del Toro is made up of nine main islands and countless smaller islets which are all surrounded by coral reefs, mangroves and rainforest. It offers a glimpse into one of Panama’s most diverse and biodiverse regions.
The main island, Isla Colón, is home to Bocas Town, a colourful waterfront town with a lively mix of restaurants, bars and shops. Its laid-back Caribbean character makes it a great base for exploring the archipelago, with easy access to boat trips, snorkelling, diving, kayaking and visits to the many beaches scattered across the islands.
The surrounding waters are home to an abundance of marine life, including dolphins, sea turtles and tropical fish, while the rainforest provides a habitat for sloths, birds and other wildlife. Nearby Bastimentos Island is particularly known for its natural beauty, with jungle trails, pristine beaches and access to the protected landscapes of Bastimentos Island National Marine Park.
