Amman & Jerash

Cosmopolitan Amman is quite a contrast to much of the rest of the country. A delightful mix of the modern and the traditional, visitors can experience typical souks with luxury, modern malls, Roman ruins overlooked by modern neighbourhoods and hotels. It is this mix that adds much to the appeal of this bustling city. Spend some time wandering the souks, shopping for spices and trinkets to take home. Stop for a mint tea in a local café and sample Knafeh, a typical Jordanian sweet and one of our favourite things to eat in the capital.

Make sure to take time to visit the roman amphitheatre and the spectacular Amman citadel including the temple of Hercules. It is worth spending a couple of nights in Amman to make sure you include a day trip to Jerash. Without doubt the most spectacular Roman site in Jordan. Amazingly preserved and exceptionally picturesque, they are an essential part of a holiday to Jordan. Including the less visited but very beautiful fortress of Ajlun is a perfect addition to a full day experiencing the best of Jordan’s history.
