Medellin and Guatapé

Just an hour from the city lies the colourful colonial town of Guatapé, surrounded by scenic man-made lakes. At its heart stands El Peñón, a towering rock formation that rises over 650 feet. Once worshipped by the Tahamíes Indians, it now draws visitors eager to climb its 740 steps and take in breathtaking views over the surrounding lakes and islands.
